Getting Around

Mopeds

A great way to discover picturesque Koh Phangan. Mopeds can be rented throughout the island with prices ranging from 100 baht-250 baht per day, with discounts for long- term rental. We rent them from the gym for 100 baht per day. There are plenty of bike shops and mechanics dotted on the side of roads to help you fix flat tyres (approx 150 baht) or buy fuel/oil. Do not drink and drive and always wear a helmet!! Roads on the island can be dangerous and failure to do so may cost you more than a 200 baht police fine!

Car Hire

Depending on the size of your group and your itinerary, 4x4 vehicles can prove to be cost-effective and better equipped for the rougher roads on Koh Phangan. Prices range from 600 baht-1500 baht per day depending on the quality of the vehicle and rental duration. Some larger resorts and companies may offer insurance but most vendors do not provide this piece of mind. Be cautious as minor car damage could cause major budget damage!

Bicycle

An affordable, enjoyable and 'green' way to explore the rugged and spectacular terrain of Koh Phangan. Cycling is ideal for those looking to burn a few calories or who feel daunted by the thought of renting a motorcycle. Generally you can pick up mountain bikes for about 100 baht from hire companies and selected resorts.

Taxi

Songtheaws and motorbike taxis are available island-wide. There are also boat-taxis to take you to some of the more secluded spots on the island. A taxi stand is located by the ferry piers in Thongsala and another is located in Haad Rin near to the police station. Always agree a price in advance. Below are typical prices for main routes on the island, but these vary depending on the time of day, your group size and the mood of the driver!

Thongsala- Haad Rin/ 150 baht per person

Thongsala- Haad Yao or Haad Salad/ 150 baht per person

Thongsala to Thong Nai Pan or Than Sadet Beach/ 250 baht per person

‘We had a great time staying in the camp to prepare our team for the Word Championships in 2014. The accommodation and the food were perfect for us.  At Diamond there are many good trainers who really take the time to teach you technique and lots of tricks. Solid pad holders who push you to your limits. Definitely we will come back.’

‘Training at Diamond Muay Thai was an amazing experience. Working with experienced trainers like Mon helped me to sharpen my technique and improve various aspects of my game. Besides the great training Simon, Jesse and the rest of the guys are super friendly and welcome everyone with open arms. Being on Koh Phangan amongst amazing beaches and surroundings doesn’t hurt either. I’ll definitely be back!’

‘I have been visiting Diamond since November 2011 and I have also fought for them on several occasions. The Diamond family have always made me very welcome and every day of training with them is a pleasure! Diamond is professionally run with a mix of beginners and intermediates training alongside both International and Thai fighters. The trainers (especially Mon) are exceptional. I will be back again in 2015!’
